Instructor: Jerod Brennen
Company: Brennen Consulting
Class Length: 8 hours
Class Abstract: This workshop is designed for both non-technical folks who have some basic Internet skills, as well as seasoned penetration testers who want to shore up their OSINT gathering skills. For the demos and exercises, I’ll be partnering non-technical students with technical students so that everyone can benefit from the exercises.
As more and more information about our companies and about our personal lives is posted online, the risk of attacker’s abusing that open source intelligence (OSINT) to target our employers or our families continues to rise. What can we do about? We can learn how to do the same things attackers do, that’s what. More importantly, we can learn how to take the necessary steps to protect ourselves from criminals who would abuse that information. It covers basic OSINT gathering tools and techniques, resources you can (and will) access during the workshop. It also covers tools that you can use to automate your OSINT gathering activities.
This workshop is designed for both technical and non-technical students alike. Non- technical students will be paired with technical students so that everyone benefits. Whether you want to roll up your sleeves and get started, or you want to should surf someone using these tools, this workshop is for you. At the end of the workshop, we'll talk about what steps you can take to protect your company and yourselves, based on the information you uncover throughout the day.
